After inquiring about her rental at 240 West 70th Street, Carol Pearson replied with the following: "I'm sorry, but I'm renting only to a single female." Isn't this illegal in New York City aside from being disgusting?

Was this the rental agent or LL? Who is this "Carol Pearson?" If its a roommate situation, its ok, but if its the former two, its illegal everywhere in the USA.
