"In 2010, financial institutions paid out $20.8 billion in cash bonuses, down from $22.5 billion in 2009. The total was down by more than one-third from $34.3 billion paid in 2006, the golden age of cash bonuses. The 2010 bonus pool was the fifth highest on record."
