Discussion about
Can anyone provide a guesstimate for what Thru the Wall Ac can cost to install. Meaning cutting he hole in the wall...
if you are handy, you can do it yourself. You don't need electrician to perform this type of job.
Otherwise, it's an hour max job. How much is your handyman charging for one hour or per visit?
Swapping in new one? DIY, maybe, if the new one takes the same sleeve as the old.
Cutting hole in masonry, especially above ground level? Use properly licensed, real tradespeople. Before you go deeper on this, find out if your building will allow it, and what's needed in the way of govt. approvals.
Right. Bricks raining down onto the street or courtyard. If the building allows it there'll be standards for the grille's design and color, and on and on. Much bigger deal than you'd think, even without all the cabinetwork that'd make it look good inside.
We looked at a pre-war building that was requiring all window a/c units to be replaced with through the wall units within 30 days of each apartment sale. Quick "all in" estimate we got was $5,000 per unit, which included some radiator work.
