Federal courts ruled that the Fed had no compelling reason to keep the information private. On Monday, the Supreme Court declined to hear an appeal by a group representing large banks, meaning the judgments by the lower courts will stand. “The Federal Reserve forgot that it is the central bank for the people of the United States and not a private academy where decisions of great importance may be withheld from public scrutiny,” Matthew Winkler, editor in chief of Bloomberg News, said in a written statement. “The Fed must be accountable to Congress, especially in disclosing what it does with the people’s money.” http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/fed-to-name-banks-that-took-loans/2011/03/21/ABMXC67_story.html [less]
there has to be another way to title your thread. it's not clever, it's not ironic, it's not "honest", it is terrifying. this kind of code language is increasingly creeping into acceptable ways of expression in public and it is absolutely chilling. the people who lived then were just as human as we are today, they allowed it to happen, and we are doing the same. it does not happen over night, and absolutely does need to called out in every instance. because every time it does not, it only ensures that the next time will be more brazen, and eventally language leads to action. don't do it, and don't let anyone you consider respectable get away with it.
as far as your post, yes, it's about time that the people in power be made to stand by what they have done with a whole lot of money that isn't theirs. have a nice day.
terrifying? Because of the word "Cabal"? Really?
jordyn, i am getting a teensie bit annoyed with the odd repeated declarations of your inability to comprehend my posts. if you don't get it but care that much, you can ask nicely, and i will be happy to explain.
Lucille, I'm at a loss here too.
Me three.
The Federal Reserve may the the only "regulator" where most of the members are bank appointed.
Lucille, what happened to your tail?
you are now both insisting that the words "banking" and "cabal" have no alternative nuanced meanings and are not often used to communicate....certain things among people who share......certain ideas and discuss those ideas in a......certain language. this is what you are saying?
Lucille, what happened to your tail?
i don't know. hope he's ok.
Lucille,
I used it to mean conspiracy or secret organization. I have no idea what other context there would be. The Federal Reserve has not been very open, have resisted efforts at transparency especially with regards to the current banking situation. It's even more ironic that the Fed has stated all is well and banks can pay dividends while stating the Fed needs to take emergency measures like QE2.
