Discussion about
Hi guys, just moved into my new place. The light that came with the unit is bare minimum to say the least, so I would like to install some recessed lighting all over the apartment. I'm wondering if you guys can enlighten me as to how I can go about getting this done. Do I buy the lights myself and hire an electrician, or is there a one stop shop? Also, what's the standard for recess lights nowadays, LED, halogen, or something else?

Do you have a dropped ceiling in your apartment? If this is in manhattan there is a great chance you cannot do this.

If you can you can buy the lights and have the electrician install but you would also need somoene to patch the holes and cuts he makes.

If you need to drop the ceiling first you need at the very least a handyman if not a contractor to do that for you
