Discussion about
Can anyone recommend a good contractor who is also EPA lead certified? We need to replace some woodwork in our apartment and since we have a very curious one year old, we need someone reliable. Thanks for any help.

Hello Narasetay,

All NYC contractors need to be EPA lead certified, doesn't mean they are reliable. This project sounds too small for us to do it but I might no someone tht might be able to.

Feel free to email me at primerenovations@Mac.com

How hard is it to get EPA lead certified? I know a guy who builds houses in CT that I want to use for renonvations in a COOP but he is not EPA Lead certified (and in fact had never heard of it so I guess it's a NY thing?).
Tx

it is a federal law (epa), and has been in effect since April 2010.

Bernie,

It is very easy. You take an 8 class and then take a very easy test. Since he will be taking it now I believe it will take a long time to get approved. His company as well as himself needs to get licensed. If I remembere right it cost me $600.00 in total
