Discussion about
Any thoughts? My guess is that he was starting to realize how much the spotlight would deteriorate the image he has created for himself (in the eyes of the everyman) as a successful businessman given the media scrutiny, which would ultimately be very bad for business.

smart guy.. believe he never actually intended on running..

much cheaper to pretend to run to & get picked up by every major network (whether seriously or mockingly) than to spend $$$$ to advertise his 'brand.'

That's right, ho.
Trump is a master at self-promo.

I've seen him many times backstage at MSG. He's very polite when I say Hi to him.
As billionaires go,(if he is one seems to be doubted by some) he's better than Ron Perlman; who comes to concerts at the Garden and acts like he owns the place. He's a stinker.

At a Stones concert Donald came and went out to his seat. Very nice, no problem.

Ron shows up and has no tickets. He's standing in the aisle right outside that small V.I.P standing room section. I ask him to please stand inside the ropes because the aisle can't be blocked. He ignores me. His bodyguard comes over to me and the security guy and says: "Do you know who he is?"

We say "Yes, and he's gotta come in behind the ropes." He stood there fuming for the rest of the show.

No reasonable person in their right mind took this bid seriously, and recognized it for what it was, publicity.
However, our fourth estate did their rightful job vetting this 24/7 and giving it front page status...So what does that say about our political pundits who gave this piece of news more coverage than the more serious issues facing us?

"No reasonable person in their right mind took this bid seriously."

How do you reconcile that with the fact that he was first choice for something like a quarter of Republicans, ahead of everyone else, just a few weeks ago?

Not really sure, probably a combination of one or more of the following

1) Electorate responding to the media hype
2) Stupidity of the electorate in not seeing past this
3) Bad polling

He would have been MY first choice.

But I can see why someone like Trump would find that politics are really not a good fit. He's been "the boss" for quite some time. In his life, it's always HIS way.

Not so in politics, where you have to actually *negotiate* and be diplomatic.
