Could this turn six seven to a bull? From the New York Fed: The Empire State Manufacturing Survey indicates that conditions for New York manufacturers deteriorated in June. The general business conditions index slipped below zero for the first time since November of 2010, falling twenty points to -7.8. I've been saying this for months:

QEII should be one more nail in the coffin of supply-side economics. Of course it won't be because it's a great sales pitch from the Right - there is such a thing as a free lunch! - but it should be.

Let me preempt that counter argument.

W67bull- but most of the new economy is in 'services' as in financial services.

Realw67 - yeah but fktard, don't you think All the people in services might need some manufactured products, like plaster dildos and vulvas, lube, forks, knives and keys made for all their new man caves for $2000psf?

"Historic Collapse In Philly Fed Which Prints At -7.7 On Expectations Of 7.0, Weakest Since July Of 2009, Biggest 3 Month Drop Ever"

"As we predicted following yesterday's disastrous New York Fed, we get the second confirmation that the economy is now contracting, courtesy of the Philly Fed, which just printed at negative 7.7 on expectations of 7.0%. This is the lowest number since July of 2009, and is the biggest three month collapse in the history of the series, plunging from 43.4 in March to -7.7 in June, or an over 50 point drop in three months. As expected, the Fed is telegraphing that the economy is collapsing and that stocks needs to plunge another 20% before Operation Twist (QE3) is given a green light."

Thank you, QEII!

And stocks up on that news, after a violent crash yesterday: seems like there's a lot of portfolio repositioning going on, or somebody who sold a lot of puts is doing their damnedest to get the market to rise.

Alas, it will be futile.
