Where in nyc to purchase urban canvas art?

That's the marketing gimmick of one "artist". You might find original (limited edition) art to be less expensive than you think at galleries in Chelsea, etc. At least once a year there's an open studio weekend in Chelsea, and other times other places.

Too bad you just missed the season for the year-end shows of art students from local schools (Cooper Union, SVA, etc.), but if you contact those places they might be able to hook you up with students/grads.

Otherwise, see http://www.artcat.com/ and http://www.artcards.cc ... Thursday is the biggest night for openings, if you want a party and/or eavesdropping with your art. Summer slower.
