I'm considering buying an apartment in this building, and in reading some of the past posts, seems like there have been a lot of headaches - problems with HVAC, whistling windows on the west side of the building, windows shattering, locks not working, and on and on - but none in the last year or two. Is this because the problems have been fixed, or because people stopped posting? Does anyone who is currently living at 10WEA have any positive or negative things to say?

i've lived at 10wea for 4 years and can confidently say that i have never experienced any of these issues. in any new construction you will always have a few issues like this and unfortunately the small minority of people in the building who had some minor problems (that were easily fixable) decided to be very vocal about it.

I'm also considering buying an apt in this building, but people told me it's impossible to get a cab or any public ytransportation. And that it's not safe. Is it true ?

I have a unit in this condo and has lived there for a short while before leading it out. I did not have problems with cabs except during peak hours. A plus that was not mentioned in any of the discussions is that there's a Hertz and Action Car rental just behind the building on West 60th.

The only issue with buying here, and it should be fairly obvious is that the parking lot across the street between the River & West End will be developed shortly and views and sunlight will be altered.

Riojan, There are busses that run by the building 57 on West End along with some other lines that run on 57th street if you walk east but the subways are not there. You need to walk to Broadway.

The coming Extell development has it's plus and minus but I thinkmit will make a good investment in the future once the buildings are up. Think of Lincoln Center in the 80's.
