I used to enjoy the annual Festivale di San De Niro in Danceteria's side yard. Lots and lots of spaghetti.

ewwwww. too narrow. the only townhouses I like are wide/sprawling ones which happen to be mostly on the Upper East Side.

Are you talking about the house he owns(owned?) on Saint Luke's Place? His ex-wife Dianne Abbot lived there. Don't know if she's even still alive

Just saw it - 14 Saint Luke's Place - he just put it on the market for a ridiculous price. Guess she died.

1. Den on garden level has no entrance and is apparently sealed up. Strange to ask this much for a place and be unable to proofread a floor plan for glaring errors. Nice job by broker.
2. Awkward space such as "library" on parlor floor that looks impossible to place furniture in.
3. Bedroom on third floor has no bathroom and must share a single bathroom with supposedly 4 bedrooms on top floor. That's 5 bedrooms for one bathroom. Really?
4. Two bedrooms on top level are 7' wide--are you serious?

This floor plan is atrocious.
I do like the 6 fireplaces, though.
If someone wants to give me $2MM I'd love to renovate the place.

Third floor bathroom to bedroom size ratio is also pretty amusing. And why would you break up the grand dining room on Parlor Floor with a a tiny rectangular office? Fugheddaboutit

Robert De Niro owns the house. His son Raphel is the broker. Diahnne Abbott is his first wife and mother of the broker who as far as I know she is very much alive. I wonder if the crime in that area is a factor for selling?

St. Luke's Place has always been one of my two favorite blocks!! I'd be willing to make do with the wonky layout.

SunnyD, I could also make do with that layout. For the most part, being built in 1852 is the reason for that allocation of space. Renovation however would be murder. The townhouses uptown came fifty to sixty years later when they got it right. When this one was built, it had small rooms in order to keep them warm in the winter not unlike alot of these kind of buildings in Victorian England. That top floor was probably for staff and there might have been six small rooms then. The den on the first floor that shows no entrance could be a maid's now room if someone wanted live in staff.I will admit that the asking price is quite agressive for lack of a better word.
