How rare is a dishwasher in the $2000 range?

Discussion about
I really would like a dishwasher in my next Manhattan apartment. I'd almost like to say it is a "must-have", but I don't want to do that if it would exclude too many decent places. My budget is a little over $2000 and I am targeting the Village (unlikely), Gramercy, and Murray Hill areas. Thanks.

I think it's hit or miss in the Village. I have one in my studio and I live in the West Village and pay less than $2000. Try looking in newer buildings, or at listings that mention a renovated kitchen. If there is a dishwasher, an agent or landlord will definitely mention it.

If there isn't one already in the apartment, you probably aren't going to be allowed to install one.

Anyway you will see them in a minority of apts at that price point if you want to be downtown (or even if you wanted to be in the UWS).

Since they make it very hard to figure out, very few people know how to actually use this very website. This one is free:

We found 87 for rent by owner or management company or broker-represented listings for no more than $2,000 with dishwasher

http://streeteasy.com/nyc/rentals/manhattan/rental_type:frbo,brokernofee,brokerfee|price:-2000|amenities:dishwasher?sort_by=price_desc

If you narrow that search to all downtown, then there are only 5 up to $2k. Of course there are plenty of apts that are not in Streeteasy.

I didn't know you could even rent an apartment for <$2000 in Manhattan.

get a drying rack and a dish towel--clearly (based on rental price range you cite) youre not looking for an apt for more than yourself (and maybe a partner)--seems a dishwasher wouldn't be useful--cant imagine youd fill it more than once a week--unless you plan to run it nearly empty
