i couldn't concentrate on the article because that moving sidebar thing was unbelievably incredibly annoying and infuriating. but this did jump out,

"They have to because, sooner or later, with very few exceptions, young adults must leave their parents' home."

what if they don't? what if we "regress" to the way most people across the world live - with several generation of one family in one home? and the kids just taking over the managing of the house as older generation ages?

Unfortunately we've also seen the rise of a new demographic the over-leveraged consumer which is the flip side of the technically insolvent bank. While owning has many advantages the percent of home ownership rose too much. It's also true that the second home ownership rate should come down now that baby boomers are getting older.
