Discussion about
Once you submit plans to a co-op board, how long does it typically take for them to approve the plans? Does this take days/weeks/months? Thanks.

It should generally take between one and two weeks to receive approval. Some boards are capricious and take a bit longer. Ask your building's mgmt co how quickly the board usually moves on alteration submissions.

It took me 4 months. It was a complete fiasco. Your management company should be able to tell you how long the board typically takes.

Wow, Pawn--4 months??! That really does sound like a nightmare. Did they give you any explanation?

It also depends on what the project is. If you are moving plumbing fixtures or knocking down walls it will take longer then just doing cosmetic changes

Primer05 is right. It will have a lot to do with the nature of the project. If the building's architect or engineer needs to review your plans, that could easily add a few weeks to the approval process.

The biggest factor is the extent of the renovations and how well prepared the Alteratoon Plan was completed.
