Skim Coating Loft Ceilings

Do experts see any need to skim coat the ceilings if we have a couple of chandeliers? Ceilings are ok but somewhat uneven at places as cement plastering was not done perfectly. Walls are in excellent even condition but do not think are skim coated. Do the chandeliers make the ceiling imperfection look much worse even with a flat ceiling paint?

Unfortunately, yes. If you had cement plastering before, just redo it properly. The unconformity and imperfections will be part of a really cool design. Loft + cement = perfect match.

Please keep in mind even after skimming the ceiling you still might see waves, it is very difficult to have them come out like the walls

Thanks commoner and primer. Used ultra-flat paint on the ceilings. We do not notice much as most of the focus is on the walls due to the the sconces we have.
