Discussion about
many buildins either have a no dog policy or allow small dogs only is there any easy way to find out which buildings permit larger dogs?

Pick up the telephone and call them. That is an easy way, and you can keep it anonymous.

It's actually an interesting question since so many buildings restrict the size and number of dogs. You could find an experienced broker who knows the area. Maybe even asking the manager at a place like Biscuits and Bath on 1st Avenue and East 80th if they know which buildings on the UES permit large dogs. I think that some do, but limit to only one dog at a time.

181 East 90th, very dog friendly, we have a small dog but several of our neighbors have large dogs (Golden Retrievers, Standard Poodles...etc.) I think our building rules technically limit the size but it's clearly not followed. Building in general is very dog friendly. Our super even has a dog.

I wouldn't suggest buying or renting an apt unless your dog was approved and/or on the lease. The last thing you want is to move in and something in the bldg changes or someone complains about another dog and the management starts to focus on all the dogs. You have to be protected.
