Discussion about
Has anyone installed an electrical panel inside a shallow cabinet? Or perhaps hanging art in front of the panel is better? I understand we need a 30" wide x 36" deep clearance in front per NEC code...but was trying to think of creative ways to hide the panel since it's in a very prominent location in our apt. Any help appreciated!

I have seen panels installed in nice wood enclosure flush with wall surface.
Also Hanging art should be ok.

Technically, it's against code to conceal the power box at all. You're not even allowed to paint it.

That said, hanging art is the least *permanent* way of concealing it. Sticking it inside a custom-made enclosure is just begging for a fine.

Our electrical panels are behind hinged metal doors. One was existing when we bought the apartment, the second one was installed when we added electrical power and put in a second box. Same hinged cover , though looks don't matter in this case as it is in a laundry room
