Discussion about 433 East 74th Street #1A

Need some help understanding this one...what is a 1.5 bedroom? I mean, what is half a bedroom? In my mind, it's a bedroom or it isn't, there is no halfway about it.

The question is, can you consider a windowless basement a half bedroom.
Short answer...no.
If it was a half bedroom with an in-suite bathroom........
It would require the half assed.

I guess the extra 0.5 is to say without saying that the cellar could be a bedroom if you were to cheat and add a shower to the half-bath. No plan with the listing, but the builder usually includes a convenient closet next to the pot, to keep the city's plan-checkers happy but make it obvious how to thwart the code.

In the text they just call it a bonus room and leave it at that.

BTW, "bonus room" and "townhome" give an un-NYC air, more like provincial-city suburb.
