Discussion about
Will be needing an architect for a potential future project in a condo.... We had someone for another project a few years ago but we weren't thrilled and they were rather expensive. What is the best way to find the right architect?

Word of mouth is best. I highly recommend the architect we are working with, Ed Shalat of Shalat Architects. Reasonable cost and works quickly.

I saw a lot of drawings.
MR architecture is one of the best.

Talking with past clients and viewing completed projects is really the best way to gauge which architect is right for you. I would be interested in talking with you further about your potential project. Please contact me at:

If you've not found an architect yet, hold auditions.

It goes like this:
1. If you have an existing floor plan, make a few copies of that along with your wish list (one page only). If you don't have an existing floor plan hire somebody to measure up and give you one at 1/8" = 1' - 0" scale.
2. Invite architect A to come and spend a bit less than two hours working out the basic plan, on spec.
3. Repeat with architect B and C.
4. Decide who you like best and hire him / her.

Done. It's fun, and you'll learn a whole lot.
