Has anyone visited the buildings north of McCarren park (MAC, NorthPoint Towers, 128 Newton)? I'm curious to see what people think of them and if you think it would be a bad move to buy on that side of the park given the distance to the L. I work in Midtown so the G to E subway is actually very convenient (service issues aside), but I'm curious if other people think negatively of that side of the park due to the subway, distance to bars/restaurants on Bedford, etc.

jsey9: I just responded to your inquiry under the Sevenberry discussion. I really like Northpoint Towers. And I like the location near the park. I also work in midtown (42nd/Madison). When I went to the open house, the agent informed me that I could get on the G line. I decided against it for a property closer to the L because (1) I spend a lot of time downtown and (2) the commute to Midtown is fairly direct from the L (L to Union Square. 4/5/6 to Grand Central). Overall, I was impressed by Northpoint Towers. If you visit an open house you will see the quality is very good compared to some other new developments. Good luck.

Thanks. I liked the MAC and 128 Newton slightly better. I thought all three were nice, just somewhat concerned due to the distance to the L, about a 12-15 minute walk. I'm seriously considering an offer on one of these three buildings in the next week. I just think you get more for your money than south of the park. Cheers

I like the units. But for me, proximity to the L was key. However, you are close to the park, will have great views of the Manhattan skyline and will have front row seats to the entertainment at the McCarren Park pool in year or so. You'll get more unit for the money.
