With the walk through, you want to make sure that every appliance and electrical outlet works properly. Also open each window. In my case, the windows stuck and the building handyman came up to fix them during the walkthrough. The seller in my case left all kinds of cleaning products in the apartment for my use which was nice but unnecessary. Broom swept means clean, but not immaculate. You want to have the apartment cleaned properly before you move in. Definitely check the leak situation as carefully as you can, although things can be repaired after the closing. Good luck to you.

I prefer to do a final walkthrough with a good building inspector. The cost (maybe $500) is more than offset by working with a professional who knows the fine granular details to look for.

A poster on SE said exactly what matsonjones has said. "I was walking through looking at this & that but without a trained professional by my side, I'd have missed all sorts of things!"
