Discussion about
Hi all, I need to demo a non-load bearing wall dividing my living room and kitchen to open it up (not moving utilities around). This sounds like something I will have to file plans for with the DOB. Is this something a licensed GC can do or do I have to go out and pay big bucks to hire an architect?

If you're removing a wall you're going to need to file plans (yes you need an architect or professional engineer) and get your plans approved by the DOB before hiring a contractor and starting the work. You're also going to need an asbestos inspection (ACP5) and testing to make sure that the wall you're removing doesn't have asbestos in it.
