Board Getting Quiet

When it came up before, SE said it was just a question of space on that horizontal menu. On my screen there's room for "talk" to the right of "more", but that might not be there on smaller screens.

Re: specific properties, I'd like to see the Discussions head up near the top. As it is, way down under the map, new people don't see it and make new posts that aren't linked to the building or apartment.

i noticed that when the board was "busier," it was in effect only "busy" due to 2 bear trollzzzzz who kept making threads that the sky would fall, and some people would bite the bait and respond..

i can only assume those 1-2 permabears are too busy shuffling around trying to secure a new place before their rent rises again...

yea that's it.

There's just nothing to say on most threads. I don't come here to find links to articles on economics and politics. Threads on particular properties, neighborhoods, renos, negotiating strategies, etc are just very few.

I have to admit that I'm spending less time here, because it does feel like many threads are either repetitive or devolve into nonsense very quickly.

Good example is the recent "do I need a broker?" thread. I haven't even bothered to say anything there because I just feel like we've done that topic to death, and it becomes the same ten people saying the same ten things.

However, there are certainly still lurkers -- a year ago, whenever a potential client called me, they'd say "I see you on the boards where I post under the name XX" and now someone in that same position will say "I see you on the boards, where I just lurk."

What kyle said. Reading into the "volume" on this board as an indication of what's actually going on in the market is quite the stretch (whether noisy or quiet).

Many of the posters who I used to find so entertaining no longer post. I haven't bid on anything for over a year now. I guess there just isn't that much to say, or else it has already been said.

I've also noticed that many threads have more posts than are indicated on the board. A thread may look like it has only two posts but then when you click into it there are 15. Recent and head-scratching phenomenon.

the fashion police rolled in and decided what was "approprieate" and truth decided it was time to lawyer up because her thin skin got patchy. alan, ar, rhino, juicy and the others got tired of being grey. now we gotz angeloz and jordyn and jason who lecturing from the mantel. like going from the ivys to hunter. what a shame.

I miss the "controversial" posters. They livened things up. I guess grey is not the new black.

Shows our individual biases and motives on the board. The thread you ignore has got 95 responses so far and was the busiest thread in the last week. One mans food is another's poison.

Matsui, I glanced at the "do I need a broker?" thread and it did seem to be nothing more than "brokers are idiots/brokers are biased/hey, I'm a broker, work with me/hey I'm a cheaper broker, so work with me" ... nothing that isn't already on existing threads.

Any NEW marketplace information, so as the recent UWS board turndown of a buyer -- not mine -- with more than 50% equity is conspicuously missing.

So yes, it seems like trash not treasure to me.

Of course, I'm not denying that I'm biased. I sign my posts with my real estate affiliation, so everyone knows what my bias is.

Good day SWE, yes streeteasy not as interesting as it was in the past. I don't see you here as often, and it's good to see you. I created a thread asking about bjw2103, but it was deleted, and it's good to see he has not quit SE. RE discussions are not as hot as they used to be.

Trolls and trash talkers have kind of ruined the SE boards. I would read the board if there was anything of "value" to understand but that is fewer and far in between nowadays...

They didn't get tired, they just continue posting under their other noms de se.

Thin skin getting patchy had nothing to do with my "lawyering up".
They and their gang threatened me on an ongoing basis and ar used her husband's law office account to read my litigation depos. She then shared the info with her gang. They maliciously proceeded to post comments about it containing false facts which they knew were not true.

On the Sunday night of Thanksgiving weekend I was on here and only Matt and huntersburg were around.
cc. came on to troll me. huntersburg and I went to another thread and cc. followed.
It was cc's opportunity to write an interesting/smart/funny/ comment but all he had was nonsense.

I'm in the grey zone and the only difference is that cc. can't find me now to troll me.

WHAT? I havn't posted my name only because of identity theft, but this is another reason. I hope SE deleted all of that misinformation that was gossiped about on this site. Really disturbing.

if you think its me that is the only one missing these posters, then explain the barren drivel that dominates the boards these days. you only seem to focus on those few that you had a personal falling out, i reallly don't care about such things.

and litigation is generally in the public domain. what you sued, who you sued, why you sued, i could give a rats ass about any of it.....still can't deny that the most knowledeable posters are no longer here.

I still read SE from time to time but have pretty much quit posting. The malevolent,
creepily abusive, violent language certain people so often direct my way has grown wearisome.
Actually, they use that same schtick here on so many threads and aimed at so many people it's just a bore.

The boards have less arguments now that ar and alanfart are gone. ar said she liked to, "address it all" and as Truth said, alanfart fell prey to enslavement by ar, which is totally true and why he's not here now. MidTownerEast, is not active as "he" used to be since his bully crew are grey. While people are calling Truth a liar, her "lies" have held up because they are the truth.

The ar bully gang were on here threatening people. alanhart's fave threat to Riversider: "I'm going to have you banned from streeteasy" being an example.
ar cursing people out (no examples, it was too abusive to quote).

They also started a misinformation campaign claiming that:

Truth doesn't know/work with the people she claims.
ar claimed that one of her gang members called Levon Helm's office (not her, as she let us know), and was told that they don't know me. Then she claimed that she called Levon's office and was told "Oh, her. She only volunteers at the office here."

Then they gave up on that and just started trolling me. alanhart's fave:"Hi, Truth!" and "Unstable Mabel". In their drunken state it must have sounded funny to them. It only served to prove that they drink all day and use streeteasy for drunken fun, while disrupting threads.

I think a lot of it has to be the two Steves, who posted a lot of nutty things folks felt the need to respond to... while hurling lots of insults... and in the same breath asking that others be banned.

But I think the link placement has a lot to do with it too...

SWE hello!

RE is not the hot trending topic it was in 2008-09. We really had good conversations with contention on the side. Back then, I really looked forward to browsing SE, these days, I'm not as anxious to browse SE.

Some of the people no longer on this board have made residential re purchases. My guess is that they are on some renovation board chatting it up.
