I'm about to purchase a 2nd floor apartment in a pre-war building with a fire escape. The street is quiet and it does not have any commercial buildings nearby and the building is in a nice area. Other than taking the basic measures to better secure the windows such as using dowels or nails and securing the AC into the window frame, is there anything else I can do to improve security?
