Discussion about
Hi. I wanted to check how square feet area is quoted for an apartment with a loft area that has minimal height (a measly 4 feet height). I just saw an apartment where the area of the unit was about 600sf without including the loft area. When one includes the loft area (used for sleeping) which is only 4 feet high (basically, one needs to crawl into the bed!!), the area becomes 700sf. When determining the pricing, should one give full credit to the 100sf that is in the loft area? Thanks
No.
I definitely would not give full credit to a 4 foot high space. Barely any credit, except as storage space
ph41 is right on the money. If the area were to be 6.5 feet in height, probably 50-60% credit. Beyond 7.5 feet full credit. However, do not pay twice: a premium for the high ceilings and for the loft area. See USW15 listing which counts the double ceiling height as twice the area.
