where do people go to look at showrooms for like marble, flooring, appliances, and/or fixtures?

Snuffles,

I like to go to Nemo tile on 21st and Park for all my tile, AF Supply on 21st between 6th and 7th (you need to call to make an appointment) and Simons hardware for all hardware

within NYC, a non-exclusive list includes:
Appliances can be seen at Home Depot, Gringer & Sons, MKBC (Manh Kitchen and Bath Center), Krups.
Tiles can be seen at Nemo, Ann Sacks, Artistic Tile, Cancos Tile (all in Chelsea)
Fixtures (as in bathroom): MKBC, Simon's Hardware

This list should get you started.

tx for those tips, will check them out.
what kind of brand names are good for fixtures?
i only know the popular ones like toto, kohler, eljer. No idea whats considered high,medium, or low end.

Look around showrooms and you will learn fast enough. Duravit, for example,
is big along with others you name.
