First, it is a clear ethics violation for any broker to list any unit without the written authority of the owner.(Ref: Standards of Practice, Sec12-4) Second, the unauthorized Street Easy listing to which you refer was listed by a Broker(listed on the post). Street Easy TOS prohibits RE pros from any unauthorized marketing - and they have been alerted to his actions.

Second, your description of my unit proves that you have not seen it. Calling my unit dark without seeing it first is a lie. My loft faces south, clears the buildings around it and gets great light. This leads me to wonder if your false comments have been written (or prompted) by the same unethical broker I scolded earlier in the evening. Frankly, only a broker without a spine refuses to sign their real name on comments. (It makes it easier to hide behind the lies.)

Third: StreetEasy shows rental rates in my building at 46-48 per sq ft. Do the math.

Finally, I have brokers in my family and I respect them a great deal. They - and I - have ZERO respect for brokers that violate professional ethics. In cases such as this, it is appropriate to report the violations to the licensing board as we have done (through legal counsel) in the past.

Sadly, the bad apples really do spoil the bunch.

Manos your are correct that a broker should not do a listing without the signed authorization of the owner. BUT you are using the discussion group to advertise your rental for free which is a no no. If everyone did this, this site would be filled with discussions of listing instead of what is supposedly should be shown and that is discussions of real estate matters. So either pay for your advertising here on StreetEasy or somewhere else or hire a broker who will do it for you.

Streetesy should toss this discussion.

I am not a broker and would not take advantage of StreetEasy to list real estate on their discussion boards.

csn, I wouldn't worry, no potential tenant in their right mind would rent from someone who started a thread like this, acts as a overbearing snitch, and then quotes passage and verse from any legal, regulatory or other document, decision, set of standards or otherwise

Imagine how this individual would be as an owner ... you didn't take the garbage out on the right day. You left your lights on when you went out. The floors are not carpeted 80%. Do I smell incense? Your rent was a day late.

I say ... keep this thread.
