I'm renovating two apartments and have some questions about interior brick work A few brick walls have been painted over. I've actually removed paint from brick before so I understand how much work goes into this. My question is how much should this cost if I had it done professionally? Obviously it depends on how much brick there is...so lets assume a wall 15ft long and 10 ft high. When I removed paint from brick I used a combination of paint stripper and this paint stripping grinder (like a really hard sponge) which you attach to a drill bit. I know when they clean brick outside it can be blasted with water...is it at all possible to do this inside without causing significant damage...I'm doing a gut renovation so i could handle a little damage. Another brick wall hasn't been painted, but had a gloss/varnish put over it years ago...now it just looks really dirty. Anyway to take this coating off and clean? Again, any ideas how much? Lastly, does anyone specialize in interior brick restoration? If not specialize, does anyone know someone who does this at all? When you google "brick restoration" every result is a company that does exterior brick renovation. [less]
Primer05 is our restoration guru around here, so I'd go with him, or someone he recommends.
If not, you could look on Brownstoner, or hire someone like this guy: http://www.hatiya.net/
I think I found him using "brick cleaning" as my keywords, but "masonry restoration" brought up some resources too.
