Discussion about
Hey I just purchased a 1bdrm and I'm completely renovating it. Without moving into the sub-zero/viking ballpark, what appliances should I look into? A few friends have mentioned GE Cafe, any thought? Any help or advice offered would be appreciated, thanks!
I've been very happy with my Frigidaire appliances.
GE is great - i have GE Profile appliances, as do some of my friends and all good. You may also want to consider Blomberg or Liebharr for fridge, and Bosch makes an excellent diswasher.
Shop around. Gringer on the LES has a good selection and knowledgeable staff, they can answer your questions. Good luck!
When we were looking for a new gas range, we compared the GE CGS990SETSS with the Frigidaire Gallery FGGF304DLF. We liked the GE, but it was twice the price. Maybe the step-up in quality of components and build justifies the price. I just didn't see it.
In theory, GE should be relatively cheap to fix (compared to Viking/SubZero, at any rate), but I'm not sure the Cafe line has gained enough market share to achieve the economies of scale on parts and labor that you might expect from GE products.
Based on what I saw during our search, the Frigidaire Gallery line offers opportunities for good value: lots of features and decent components, with deep discounts off MSRP widely available. There are compromises though: Our freestanding double-oven gas range is a very solid performer in every area except one: The broiler is junk. Broiling is a low priority for us, so giving up infrared was no big deal.
Many of my clients purchase GE Profile
