Discussion about
Sorry, this is a repeat post because it didn't appear in Renovation as it was supposed to. Nassau County (Long Beach) renovation in a house. Do I need an architect? Any contractors' recommendations? A friend recommended a contractor who seems great, but he has no license and no insurance, so looking again. Nassau County, Long Beach may require license purchase. --Gut reno of kitchen --Gut reno of small bath. Move sink and toilet. --Add double French doors to a load bearing wall --Move a door in a non-load-bearing wall --Pull up tile and lay new flooring in entryway and hall --Remove paneling from den and put up sheetrock Any advice greatly appreciated!

Are you looking for a contractor or advice about the process in Long Beach?

You are not doing any major Structural, electric, plumbing work you don't need permit as i know.

If i were you i couldn't take that risk work with contractor who doesn't have insurance and license.
What is something goes wrong.

Let me know if you need a contractor recommendation who has license and insurance.

Kharby,

Long Island is a very different then most places. Sometimes each town has separate rules. Many times i have to hire a plumber or electrician who is licensed in that particular town. You need to find out your town rules.

If you need an architect I can recommend Martin Safren. He is based in Valley Stream and does work all over Nassau and the city as well. www.martinsafrenaia.com

oh, I miss Long Beach -- used to have a two-family there.

I only loved a couple of my contractors (driveway and electrical), though. Maybe ask the guys at Centre Mill who they like? They probably see everybody.
