Other people's furniture is almost always a mistake. What gets me is that the broker-owner didn't get rid of that head-cushion thingie and get the soiled sides cleaned. Instead of putting yet another f'ing orchid on the kitchen counter. Or fixing the grease-fire residue on that piece of stone behind the stove. Or figuring out a combo that didn't leave the guest half-bath and washer-dryer in the middle of the LR/DR.

What is something that Smurfs have sex on?

I'll take incredibly ugly furniture for $200.00 Alex.

The question is why not just move it out of the shot entirely? All it does is distract. And yes, those grubby areas are pretty gross.

Good get on the grease-fire residue on the backsplash, by the way. At first glance I just thought that was yet another tiresome, outdated trend.

I'm far more offended by that suspended track lighting abomination.

I like the blue thing.....

The powder room right off of the living room / dining room does gross me out a little, though. In anything other than a studio (and even then!), a bathroom that opens to the living room, dining room, or kitchen is a deal-breaker.

The washer and dryer placement is a bit odd, too, but in NYC, I will take a washer and dryer ANYWHERE, no questions asked.

Another oddity is that there's a big flat panel but no seating to watch it. I nominate this apartment as a "poorly staged" contender.

Agreed, Eric.

Everything is placed where it *looks* best, but because the room is poorly laid out, nothing is placed for how people actually LIVE; there isn't a single chair positioned to view the television straight-on. The television set is installed too high on the wall, guaranteeing neck strain for anyone who would be watching it (unless people these days STAND while watching TV). And that random Smurf lounge-thing is off by itself.

Broker owner selling for more than 2007?

Hearing your guest take a shit as you watch a football game with the family?

When 2 plus 1 equals 1.67?

Seeing this POS on price choppers, Priceless.

I particularly like the fact that you can enter the walk in closet from the public hallway. This is a real advantage for neighbors that might want to borrow a piece of clothing yet they don't have to be pesky -- just grab and go.

This will be the perfect apartment once bathrooms follow the "open kitchen" trend. No better view of the television than from the toilet once those pesky bathroom walls come down.

It's called the "Djinn chaise longue" and was designed by Olivier Mourgue in 1964/65 - here's one in the MoMA design collection....

that "chair" is actually amazing. when you "sit" in it you actually look up a bit, which is adequate for where the TV is.
You can find a whole collection of about 20 of those at the end of terminal 2E at CDG airport in Paris. They are not visible form the gates and have to walk down from the end of the terminal.
But the design is made to relax the ilio-psoas muscle as well as paraspinal muscles. try it and it's amazing.I still don't know why first class flatbed seats do not allow for the knee bend effect allowed by the genie chair.
In 2 minutes you fall asleep.

Meaning it's probably worth upwards of $100k. Sheesh.

For the man who has everything, except for an open TV-viewing powder room.

bram, your value for that chair is probably off by a factor of 30. Iconic-looking yes; $100K, no.

Looks like that chair sold at Christies in 1999 for $1,150.

I'm liking it more, photographed from other angles and in better colors.

Ali, my 'value' was a bit tongue-in-cheek. I never cease to be amazed at the prices people are willing to pay for ugly. Jeff Koons' Inflatable Flower comes to mind. 340GDP at auction last year.

And then there's the picture of the street out the window. Make sure you have the number 5 bus waiting at the light to show prospective buyers that it goes back and forth constantly. It could be considered truth in advertising.

midtowner: That's right and they are comfy. But don't fall asleep in it. I did at that airport lounge in Paris and I rolled off the side. A very nice French security guard helped me up off the floor.

bramstar: What would your sister-in-law do to those chairs in the airport before she will sit on it?

It would need to be sprayed with lots of Lysol.

Smurfs have sex? I always assumed drawn creatures like them reproduced by "Xerox".

I would think Smurf sex furniture would be more of a turntable thing. There is only one Smurfette.
