Discussion about
Does anyone know about the coops in the Bennett Arms at 187th street and Bennett Avenue? What is the are
Bennett Ave is pretty nice, lots of Orthodox families and other regular working people. Usually pretty quiet, relatively few crime issues. Good parks nearby. I've toured a few apartments in that building (120 Bennett); they tend to be spacious and have nice Deco interior details. Don't know about the building culture or management.
If public elementary/middle school is important to you, look for similarly-priced listings in buildings adjacent to Overlook Terrace (a block west) -- those should be zoned for PS187 on Cabrini Blvd which has a somewhat better reputation than PS48 on Broadway, where 120 Bennett is zoned.
Original marketing floorplans are in this database online:

If you want more information, be more specific?
Thanks for the response. Do you know about the buildings on Overview Terrace? Any suggestions on other coops I should look at in this area?
Just search Streeteasy for listings in proximity to 120 Bennett. I don't have any specific info about the buildings, but similarly-priced buildings nearby include 143-153 Bennett, 45 Overlook, 66 Overlook, 100 Overlook, 736 W. 186th, 24 Bennett... all these and more will appear when you search. My impression, based on limited evidence, is that 66 Overlook is the most desirable of the bunch, despite being postwar -- but that's based on my preferences, not yours; there's no substitute for visiting/assessing yourself.
66 Overlook Terrace is a well maintained building. Note that the first two floors of the building have apartments with 10' ceilings. The remaining floors have 8' ceilings. The building sits on a bedrock cliff, so the low floor apartments to the rear of the building get decent light.
One quirk is the carpeted hallways.
Thank you so much for the helpful comments!
