Well, owners and renters at NSP 2. How has life been living at NSP 2? After around what 2 years or so for those of you who moved in at the beginning? How are the units? I still cannot get over how little closet space there is for these units with the prices charged for them. Maybe that is the trend with many of these newer buildings. How are the amenities, building services, staff, neighbors? How... [more]

Wow, I really do not know this site. This post, my first attempt to start this discussion was delayed in showing up as a discussion for NSP2. So yesterday, I got back into this page andre-started the discussion. Apparently, they then deleted the second time I posted this discussion (I thought finally in the proper place specifically for NSP 2). For double posting? Except that original discussion started now has lost Lookpied's very helpful response. So I found it in the recent discussion posts list and I am copying it back here. Hope Lookpied does not mind, because the feedback is great!

We wanted UWS initially. Cost is what drove us to Williamsburg. We followed the market through the darkest periods and still UWS prices were beyond our reach (for 1 BR condo--no coops). Low maintenance, 25y tax abatement, and low interest rates sealed Williamsburg and NSP2 as our choice, and we haven't regretted it at all.

"In the 5 years since we first visited Williamsburg and even in the past 1 1/2 years since we closed, Williamsburg has gotten better and better. The restaurant scene is great and new ones open monthly it seems. Isa, a few blocks from NSP, has recently been nominated for best new restaurant in the nation by the James Beard Foundation. Osteria il Paolo, Zinkichi, Aurora, Santorini Grill are all within a few blocks of our building. We just discovered an amazing restaurant, Bistro Petit, at S. 2nd St. .The wine shop at NSP1 knows us well. Drug stores, dry cleaners, pet services are all located in NSP1. There's a new movie house (Nighthawk Cinema) that is a great experience with cocktails, gourmet beer, and gourmet snacks/food during the shows. We love the bars such as Maison Premiere and Hotel Delmano. The Radegast beer hall is a great contrast to those bars with a great beer list and wonderful sausages. New grocery options are coming soon (eg Whole Foods). Blue Bottle Coffee is an experience. We are runners and love running across the bridge and running through Greenpoint. There is also a track at McCarren Park which will soon open its renovated giant pool that will be an ice rink in the winter. The Brooklyn Flea/Smorgasburg at the Edge is always fun. We continue to explore and discover new things. We do not regret not living in Manhattan...."

I am going to go over Lookpied's comments and recommendations much more carefully when I have more time. Thanks, Lookpied.

In the meantime, I just discovered this Williamsburg website, www.hereswilliamsburg.com with good local info and news out of Williamsburg.
