Discussion about
Need recommendation for a great rental broker for the UWS, someone who is very knowledgable about the neighborhood. Do not want to waste time with bad ones, (too many out there)

I've found Rita Citrin to be a good resource for rentals. 212-769-0119 / 917-751-3399. She has exclusives on some nice rental buildings, and she knows the market well - especially pre-war.

If you haven't tried going directly to the major owners/managers, it's worth a few phone calls. Rudin is at 212-407-2444.

Ideally I would use a broker only for an exclusive. How do I find open listings on my own? Looking for 2-3 bdrm on UWS. around 5k.

I also recommend Rita. She found me a great place when I was renting and also placed a few of my friends. When we worked with her, she had a lot of rent stabilized pre-war units, the kind that rent to the first person who sees it.

Try the two Lefrak buildings, Marquis West, and James Marquis. They have a website. No fee. be prepared to pay for electric heat which can get very expensive. still, probably the best rental bet on UWS. Low mid 4's. add multiple hundreds for electricity, still come out ahead.

West81, empire management? Really? Would you live in one of their buildings?

jim_hones10: The reason for mentioning them was the combination of budget, apartment size and location. (The Yelp reviews alone might frighten me off.) Which management firms do you recommend?
