Discussion about
I have (dark) custom kitchen cabinets, which I like but they are starting to look a little worn (they are probably 8-10 years old - I didn't install). The wood on the front of the drawers and cabinets looks dry on the ends (and almost like it's going to split, you can see I guess where the stain is cracking/coming off) How should I address this? Do I get them restained, do they need to be sanded first, do I need to get new front panels for the cabinets? Any thoughts on cost? I think they are maple cabinets.
Rel1,
Can you send me a close up of the cabinets? Primerenovations@mac.com. Do you know if it is a veneer or real wood?
I am pretty sure it's real wood. It doesn't have lines on the corners (which I assume would be the case if it was veneer right?)
That does not mean they are not veneers. If you are in Manhattan I would be happy to come take a look. The project would probably be too small for mebut I would be happy to help.
Ok let me get back to you. I might not do it immediately. Thanks.
