Rentals --can you negotiate?

Hi All, New to this board. I'm looking to rent in Midtown West - have lived in the area for a few years now. But i'm hoping to upgrade to a nicer building and live by myself in a studio. Two questions: 1) Does anyone know of any luxury/semi-luxury buildings with studios priced at $2300 or below? 2) I've looked at a few - River Place, Biltmore, Helena --can you negotiate at these buildings? and if so, how much? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I've never really needed to negotiate, but for a studio, I don't think that many will budge on price if that building is near capacity. I've had some apologize and just say that's the way the market is going. You might want to check this site out. http://www.nybits.com

Be flexible in which neighborhood you want to live in and you won't be as limited. Good luck on your search!
