Discussion about
Does anyone know? Does removing a non-structural wall require department of buildings approval? The wall does have plugs and cable in it, so it does have some electricity. I'm told these will need to be rewired and this is why I may need to submit formal plans to the DOB?

You are absolutely right. You will need a permit anytime electricity or cabling is involved. You could possibly take out the electricity to the entire line of apartments if not done correctly. Good luck.

Miles,

You do NOT need a permit anytime electric or cable work is needed. I would always recommend you do use a licensed electrician
