Discussion about
Was looking to provide an electral line from my 4th floor apartment to the roof of the building (7th floor) by going through the stairwell. (basically i need to provide power to a fan on top of a chimney stack) I received an estimate for a little over 6000, it seemed really high to me, was wondering thoughts on that?

this what happens when you put a price here. you get someone who will beat it, but still way too high. 5000 to run a wire.

please get 3 more estimates, and dont tell them what other people are charging.

I am pretty sure you will not find a licensed electrician that will charge less then $1.500 a floor. When I said my electrician would probably be $5.000.00 I am guessing. He could be more he could be less but I would have no problem giving you his information and you can get the price from him.

Gcondo,

Isn't it good that someone will beat the price?

$1500 per ploor jibes with what two owners in my building paid to run new conduit from the cellar up to their apartments via the service hall and stairwell.

It's a lot more complicated than it first seems. "Running a wire" comes last, after all the floor/wall drilling, conduit work, etc.

tx all. I felt 6k seemedhigh, so for 3 floors 4.5-5k total would sound to be more 'fair/inline'
