Lending Tree will give you a list of mortgage brokers, some of whom (Iron Mortgage comes to mind) are also (or at least were) direct lenders. I found a broker I liked at WCS Lending, but he left the business. The mortgage he got me through Citi was better than other rates I was seeing, and I had both a good faith estimate and a letter of commitment, so it seems safe to say he was legit. Others were total slime and the calls and emails kept coming.

Keep in mind that the banks pay them a commission, possibly on top of the usual broker commission, which will be factored in.

You may want to give them a try, but only in addition to other brokers that have been recommended here and direct contact with the banks.

I used Lending Tree and they actually matched me up with Wells Fargo. For that purchase, I ended up not going with WF. When I bought again 2 years later, I did go with WF as I liked the WF person I dealt with even though I did not end up using her. The other company they matched me with was a regular broker - nice guy, but nothing special. I would just call around to some of the bigger banks and a couple brokers and see what they all come up with. Good luck.
