Discussion about
We are domestic partners. I will be 65 soon and my partner is already 65. Is there any discounted senior housing left in NYC? BPC? We can't afford to buy.
There is a building on the NE corner of Avenue A and East 11th Street. I don't know much about it other than it is senior housing, and I believe it is rental. There is an Associated supermarket on 14th Street btw 1st Ave and Ave A, an L train at 14th Street and 1st Ave that connects to nearly every other train line (though it's brutal at rush our), Tompkins Square Park a block away, and plenty of great places to eat, grab a cup of coffee, etc., within walking distance.
Good luck!
oldmaid,
Call 311, office of eldercare/senior services. They would *definitely* be plugged into anything like that.
Thanks for your responses....311 is a good idea. I know alphabet city from my early days
with CORE on Avenue D and East 3rd. Quite honestly, I really want something further north
(I can dream, right)? !!
oldmaid, when's the last time you've been to the neighborhood? If it's been awhile, you might not recognize it, and Ave A feels miles away from Ave D. Again, good luck.
