Discussion about
My apartment is about 1,000 sq ft. I had the ceiling repainted twice in the past 6 years but bubbles keep popping up. I just found a really big one in the living room and the super said we need to fix it soon otherwise it will spread to the whole apartment. He said it was due to air or something related to the structure of the ceiling. Can anyone recommend a good painter who can fix the problems? I really don't want to repaint the ceiling every 2 years.
Something is leaking in your ceiling. The super should know the configuration of the plumbing in your building, and it sounds like there is a pipe concealed in your ceiling which is leaking. If the plumbing problem is not fixed, you can paint and repaint until the cows come home and your problem will continue. The fact that the new bubble is even bigger shows that the leak is getting worse. Don't bother repainting until you find the source of the leak, otherwise you will be throwing good money after bad.
Thanks Riccardo. That's what we thought but the super said the ceiling was dry so it wasn't water leak. I'm not sure what I can do to find the source if it's really due to plumbing problem. Any suggestion?
Any recommendation on a good painter? I used a contractor from Home Depot last time and he was ok. Would like to get some names before I call him again.
