Thanks to all who responded. Has anyone put in a new floor? Does this take an alteration agreement?

I did not buy there, but yes- you will need an alteration "agreement".
What's the big deal? Your contractor should be insured.
A standard operating procedure in any building, co-op or condo.

You won't have any trouble with this, and they will approve you (in my experience) in a day or so.
