Discussion about
I've noticed recently that some new listings are not posting floor plans. The number of them is more than coincidental, I think, and I hope it's not the beginning of a trend. I've particularly noticed this with Corcoran listings. Streeteasy was a pioneer in RE transparency in NYC, and one of the features of the movement towards transparency was the availability of floor plans in listings. Back in... [more]

Given the amount of public information available about the majority of buildings and the majority of listings, I think that brokers do themselves a disservice by not posting floorplans. I actually look first at the floorplans and then at the pictures. They're indipensable for evaluating apartments.

General: Can you post any recent Corcoran examples?

the funny thing is when they post an 800 sq ft floor plan and put 1100 sq ft as the size. what's even more funny, is that they are required to be able to calculate square footage when taking the RE exam.

Sometimes the listing will go active before photos and/or floor plans have been assembled. If the listings are only a couple of days old you should check back.

Agreed. I go right past listings that do not include floor plans/pictures. One way to sometimes get around it... enter in the search bar the building address. All the units sold/listed for building will show and you can look for another in the same line for pictures/floor plans. Also, the building will show all avaiable floor plans (top right)as well as building/unit layouts (bottom left)

I think this practice is right up there with not showing a photo of the kitchen. I recall reading somewhere that now more people click on the floor plan the actual pictures. Clearly hiding something.

And stop showing ONLY exterior building shots and shots of the lobby and other common areas. Show me the actual apartment, or don't bother showing anything at all.

gog, there have been some significant interface issues between computer systems lately. If you go to the Corcoran site, can you see the floorplans there?

I remember having this problem 2 years ago, and it was coincidentally with Corcoran listings.
Of course the problem was solved by clicking on the corcoran link from the streeteasy page and the floorplans were there on their site.
Why Corcoran would want the customer to "hit" an extra link I cant imagine.

why dont you all stop bitching and turn off the computers and get off your fat spreading asses and go see the properties that might meet your price point? afraid you will meet someone of superior intellect who will talk you into something you otherwise might not purchase?
