Discussion about
I am looking for a coop in brooklyn. How does one determine what the offer should be with respect to the asking price.

There might be a hard and fast rule with respect to this, but your broker should know that if there is such a rule. It depends on so many things such as how much do you really want this apartment, how long has it been on the market, your financial situation and lots of other things. If you come in too far below the asking price, the seller may not even bother countering. You need to look like a serious buyer to start a dialogue.
