Cost of replacing an elevator

Have been looking at an apt and it will likely require an asessment to replace the building's elevator. This is a mid rise building (12 floors). Anyone have any ballpark idea of what the cost is to replace an elevator? There not many units in the building and so this may be a large assessment to share among few shareholders. Thanks
