Discussion about
Did anyone else notice all of these new TPI listings today on streeteasy? The weird thing is that the photos and floorplans do not match up and are clearly taken from other listings. For instance, 815 WEA #11B is on the market with Corcoran and today TPI posts a listing for #11D with the same floorplan and photos as #11D. http://streeteasy.com/nyc/building/815-west-end-avenue-manhattan Am I too naive to figure this out or is this just a scam?

Seems to be a sneaky way of trying to get someone to sign with you as a buyer's broker. I would hope any one in the market for a $1.7 million apt would figure this one out fast...

Seems super sketchy, though, would love to hear the real answer from someone...especially TPI.

This guy is going to get chased off quick. The listing agents won't be happy with this. He will claim a data feed problem with SE.

Posted this in another TPI thread as well, moving it here - they added 3 new listings for 444 CPW - all of them are incorrect (floor plans don't match the apartments as above), and it looks like they are just misnamed copies of other active listings in the building. They changed the price a bit as well to obscure things, but the prices also don't make any sense relative to the apartment lines.

I think nyc10007 is right.
I saw about a dozen of his "adds" before they were removed.
That is the fastest I have every Streeteasy respond.

They all had the common thread of duplicating the apt floor in that building and using a few of the photos provided, however not the lead photo and they were all exactly 5% lower in price than the real apt for sale. The change or deception he made was changing the building line letter of the apt. And coincidently or not it was always a more expensive line than the one for sale, so when you looked at comps for that line you thought an instant wow that is cheap for that line.
This way after you reached out to him and he found out you didn't have a broker he would meet you in the building as your buyers broker, (even thou at this stage they may think he was still the principal).

Jim, I assure you I am no competitor, and if I were I clearly wouldn't be a good one given that I stumbled across this website 5 years ago and have yet to post anything suspicious. Not all of us have to post regularly for us not to be furtive brokers.

Don't mind Jim, he probably hates the whole brokerage industry like others including columbiacounty.

Three separate posters, all with multiple years as members, but no posts, responding simultaneously to the same incident?

Jim, it's ok, there are others here who are suspicious like you.

Actually just a resident of 444 (which my streeteasy account helped me find). So I happened to check the listings to see what was going on. No interest in being a regular poster, just thought is point out some obvious fraud. Jeez.
