Discussion about
I wanted to re-post this under Renovations. I am buying a unit in a new construction with an open kitchen. There are not enough cabinets but there is a space right of the fridge about 3ft wide by 2 ft deep. I would like to have a pantry build in that space rather then using open shelves or something of the sort. How big of a project is that an how much will it cost? Not sure if I want a closet type pantry with one closet door or cabinet type pantry...suggesting/estimates welcome. Also will I need a permission from the board (at the moment controlled by the sponsor). Thanks!

Kraftmaid makes this tall pantry pullout that might not be very expensive - They can cut it to your dimensions. We bought one from home depot for our renovation. http://www.kraftmaid.com/products/storage-solutions/kitchen/food/tall-pantry-pull-out.html

East108,

What kind of cabinets are in the kitchen now? I would think you would need a custom cabinet to match the existing

A 2' x 3' is a typical fixed shelving closet space. You can add 5/6 fixed shelves and add a bi-folding door with track on the lower end, middle range; add hinged door and frame or go with a custom piece as suggested above on the higher end.

Primer05, the space is separated from the fridge with a column, so not sure if cabinets need to match - cabinets are mid-range simple door, dont know the maker but can ask the developer..what would be an estimate for a mid range custom cabinets for that space?
