recommendations for 24 inch electric range

I don't know of any "apartment-sized" ranges that come with smooth tops.

Maybe separate the cooktop and the oven - you get design flexibility as well as potentially easier to find smaller sizes in the styles you want. If you go that way, also look at induction for the cooktop.

Keep in mind that most people don't like the high-maintenance that comes with these smooth-top ranges (special cleaners, only certain types of cookware, etc.). Unless you're totally in love with it, it will be seen as a minus during resale.

Consider an induction cooktop: they're pretty rare in my experience, but a plus, not a minus, for resale.

I love induction cooktops, super easy to clean. You likely do need a new set of pans though.

I love my induction cooktop (a 36" Frigidaire 5-burner unit), but beware that all your cookware must contain a fair amount of iron or steel -- depending on what you've currently got, you could be looking at significant cost to upgrade.
