Discussion about
Can anyone recommend a home media company? I need someone to make sure my TV, computer & music all play nice with each other in my 1BR home. Preferrably located in the Village. Thanks

Are you looking for any new equipment of actual custom installation, or just someone to do the setup and teach you how to use the equipment? The reason I ask is because you'll be hard pressed to find a pro to do a very basic job, especially if you're not buying anything from them.

I used Bright Home Theater on two separate occasions, one for a pretty major install job which included lighting and A/V wiring of an entire apartment, plus wall mounting of 2 TV's and set up of all my equipment. Second job was a pretty basic re-wire that was more tedious than anything else.

They're great, very professional and I highly recommend them, but you probably won't get the same level of attention or service for a small wiring/tutorial unless you're also buying the equipment from them.

Kerry Bright is the owner and Radek is the installer who worked with me on both occasions. They're in the East Village...

Provide more detail on what you need, cause you may be best off calling the Geek Squad at Best Buy or finding a friend of a friend who is A/V knowledgeable. I'm offer my A/V expertise to friends for barter...alcohol and food always work for me.

Thanks NYC10007. I think I am encountering precisely what you are referring to.
When I bought my 1BR apartment ~ 2 years ago I hired a home media company to purchase & install 2 flat screens, a receiver, DVD, 4 speakers and connect it to my PC. I spent a decent amount. The quality of install appeared good and the service initially professional. Fast forward two years.
Something breaks about every 3 months and they normally can%u2019t see me for several weeks (despite pretty generous payments & tips). Lately service poor; clearly they want to ditch me, must be making more money on new installs. So I am seeking a company that will do %u201Cmaintenance%u201D and some additions to the above.
Thanks

Does anyone know... Do these home media companies ever offer a servicing plan? Or would that be Geek Squad? Tx

Bright Home Theater is very good.
If you can't wait for service when something breaks about every 3 months (very often) call Geek Squad.

They showed up one Christmas wearing Santa hats.

Bernie123. Just curious, what types of things are breaking every 3 months? Wondering if it's equipment related or install related...or possibly both.
