Discussion about
Finally decided on carrera marble countertops and backsplash. Have about 50sf of countertops. What should it cost? Any reccomendations for installer and stone yard to look? Also decided to put in polished b.c honed needs to be sealed and the sealer is harmful. Is it true?

New2this,

All marble needs to be sealed. If you are worried about staining I would look at Caeserstone. If you are going with 1 1/4" it is somewhere around $80-100 sq ft

I would look at Danby marble. It's from a quarry in Vermont, and it has a lower absorbency and is slightly more forgiving than other marble. They have grades similar to carrera and statuary. You may want to go with honed; I used polished in my kitchen, and it etches like crazy (basically looks like tiny scratches or water marks under high light). It still looks great, especially under lower lighting, but if etching drives you nuts, I'd go with honed.

It's available at Stone Source and Artistic Tile in Manhattan.

Buster,

Danby is very nice but also more expensive. We just install beautiful danby on this project

primer05 your pic looks amazing. We just went to showroom and decided not to do marble but rather caesarstone or cambria or zodiac. Any differences between these besides color choices from people's experience? thank you
